What kind of terrain does Canterbury have?
Our lodge includes 1,300 acres of diverse habitat ranging from recent clear cuts to pine plantation to mature hardwood bottoms. We have shooting houses on food plots, as well as stands in wooded areas. Our hunts are designed to allow you to hunt at your own pace and leisure. The terrain at Canterbury is generally flat and is low and wet in some areas. Rubber boots are recommended.
How many animals can I take during my hunt?
You may take one Buck (8 points or better with a 16 inch spread) and one Doe per day of a deer hunt. If hunting turkey, you may take one gobbler per hunt. There is no limit on hogs. Please take as many as you wish!
Can I hunt small game at Canterbury?
Yes! They are included with the price of your hunt.
Do you charge for button bucks?
Yes. There is a $500.00 fine for shooting a buck below the size limit.
What does the daily fee include?
Lodging, hunting and use of our walk-in cooler. Meals are not included.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. Half of the total fee is due upon booking the hunt. The balance is due at check-in. The deposit is non-refundable.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
Deposits are nonrefundable.
When does my hunt officially begin and end?
Check in time is 4:00 P.M. on the afternoon before your hunt begins. Check out time is 10:00 A.M. on the morning after your hunt ends.
Can I stay an extra night?
Yes, if no one has the next day reserved. Lodging is $50.00 per night.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely. There is a $50.00 lodging fee per non-hunter per night.
What is Canterbury's smoking policy?
Both our lodge and bunkhouse are non-smoking zones.
Do I need an Alabama hunting license and if so, how do I get one?
Yes, you will need an Alabama hunting license. Your hunting license may be procured via the internet at

What should I bring?
We recommend the following:
Rifle 25.06 or larger caliber for deer, Shotgun 12 gauge or larger for turkey (no. 4 or 6 shot), safety belt and hunter orange cap or vest, binoculars, camouflage, compass, flashlight, rain gear, rubber boots, cooler, and a warm jacket & clothing, as it gets very cold during deer season.
Can I bring my own tree stand?
Yes.
How much "orange" should I bring?
Alabama requires 144 square inches of solid orange.
